Winter in Big Sky, Montana, is quiet, beautiful, and peaceful, and lots of fun. The historic 320 Guest Ranch offers a range of winter activities...starlit sleigh rides to our Mountain Man Campsite, snowshoeing, downhill and cross-country skiing, bonfires, wildlife viewing, and snowmobiling. Let us know what you want to do, and we'll get you set up!
Our Rocky Mountain climate can be hard to pin down sometimes, so you should plan to wear layers. Mornings are sometimes quite cold, with afternoons that can be extremely mild-sun and 32 degrees here is surprisingly warm, especially if you're skiing or doing something active. Bring an extra pair of shoes so that you have a dry pair to put on after playing in the snow. And of course don't forget to throw in a bathing suit for the hot tub.
Picture this: you glide beneath a deep-black, star-dotted Montana sky, with only the sound of crunching snow and the jingling harnesses of the Percheron draft horses, which are skillfully guiding you along the frozen Gallatin River. The wool-wrapped wranglers talk about the 320's remarkable history, and maybe tell a few tall tales along the way. You and your family, along with the new friends you've made, arrive at the mountain man campsite, where you're handed a steaming mug of cowboy chili, and some hot cider spiced with rum. Montana's famous cold winters really aren't that cold, you think to yourself.
No wonder our sleigh rides are so popular! Make your reservation now.
Sleigh rides begin at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. We also offer a special 9:00 p.m. ride during peak season. The 320 Guest Ranch does not offer Sunday rides so our horses can have a day off.
